One of my coworkers and a good friend is a huge football fan. He has a handful of teams he likes to watch (and ones he likes to jeer at) but you’ve got to agree he certainly loves everything about the game.

So when the annual office Christmas gift drawing came around and I picked his name, I searched high and low for a good football gift that a man would like.

So when I saw these spoof newspapers, I knew he just had to have one. He’s a huge Arsenal fan, so what better way to play a trick on him than to put his name as the winning player who thrashed the opposing team?

I laid the paper out on the table and ask him if he’d read the Mirror sports page today.

He said he hadn’t, but got the shock of his life when he saw his name and his team on the front page! He believed it for all of about five minutes, but it was the best money I ever spent to see the look on his face when he read it!

If I had one complaint, it’s that I wish you could include a photo in the paper to make it more believable. We’ve got a bloke in our office (Richard) who LOVES coffee. Unfortunately (and we call it a curse), every single time he orders takeaway coffee, they get his order wrong!

They put in too much sugar, or no sugar at all – and one time they accidentally gave him soy milk! He insisted the milk in his coffee went sour!

You’d be surprised the kind of amazed reactions you’ll see on people’s faces when you give them a personalised paper! I bought one for my husband and my daughter and they both absolutely loved them.

My daughter actually believed the lottery one at first although she didn’t know how she won since she’s too young to play. The fact that her picture was on it only made it more convincing!

They have a lot of different versions you can customize, but I do wish that they had more variety for different ages and different hobbies. It’s a fantastic little gift though that might just make a believer out of you!

I bought one of these cool gadgets for my parents, who have shoeboxes FULL of old 35mm negative strips.

All those old family photos got lost over time, so this negative scanner helped preserve all those old (and hysterical!) memories.

We all had a great time looking back at old pictures and making fun of hairstyles and clothing from back in the day! The software was really simple to set up and it walks you through the scanning process step by step.

The only thing I found that could have helped is some better photo retouching tools. Negatives aren’t exactly colorful, so you may find some of your photos having an unusual amount of red or brown in them.

However, being able to collect these photos digitally off of a device that you can plug in and out of your computer is so easy and fast!

I can’t tell you how much money I have saved using this little gem over the cost of getting negatives retouched at our local photo lab.

The pics are nicely done too – sharp quality and good colors. The editing tools are pretty basic and will fit most of your needs too.

All in all, I really love this innovative little scanner and can’t wait to scan more negatives with it and laugh at old 70’s piccies.

I love books, but hate lugging around a thick novel or getting my favorite magazine completely soaked in the rain.

I didn’t want the expense of something like the Amazon Kindle, and the Apple Iphone doesn’t really do books well.

So naturally I was ecstatic when I came across the COOL-ER ebook reader. It combines the easy reading of a regular book with the digital age and you can download books from all kinds of subjects from the ebook reader website.

I read that you could store up to 800 books on it – and seriously, who wants to store 800 books in the shelves at your home? It comes in different colors too and look and works a lot like the Apple iPod with the scrolling wheel.

I like that you can also increase the font size for easier reading.

If I could ask for one change, it would be that you could download books from other sites, like Amazon or other ebooks, but at the moment those aren’t compatible. Still, the fact that you can combine books and mp3’s together in one device is fantastic.

So you can listen to your favorite music while you read. For the book or music lover on your list – this is a must-have!

It’s about time someone invented something like this – a photo printer the size of a USB drive.

Not only does it print easy peel-and-stick photos, it also saves you a trip to the photo lab to get your piccies!

If you thought a mobile phone camera was as small as pictures would ever get, you need to check out PoGo. I used mine to finally print out all those photos that were taking up space on my phone and digital camera – and they look great!

Obviously the photos are rather small so if you’re looking for something downright dazzling, you might be better off with a regular photo printer. But the colours look good and crisp and the printing is FAST, especially for such a tiny device!

I love that it’s completely wireless and needs no messy ink cartridges. The pics are waterproof, smear proof and tear proof too, so if you capture a mate who’s completely wasted, you can print, peel and stick up the proof for all to see!

This little device uses Zink thermal paper and it holds a lot more of the paper than you’d think it would (up to 10 sheets).

That lets you print out plenty of photos for a night – so it’s a great way to carry and share the memories without lugging around a laptop and looking like a total nerd.

The Slanket (the blanket with sleeves) has been amazingly popular. It is one of those crazes that just took off.

It was invented in the USA but it has sold in huge amounts in the UK. It is easy to understand why. It’s all down to our freezing cold weather, high heating bills and great TV!

Well now they have gone and created a double slanket! For couples who just cannot bear to be apart and want to snuggle up together you just cannot beat it!

Staying in is the new going out. It’s the perfect gift for these miserable economic times because you can turn down the heating and save money. It pays for itself!

It’s not that we’re tight-fisted but 2 presents in 1 and lower heating bills sounds like a good combination to us. “But it’s romantic darling”.
